Where to Drink in September

26/08/2016

As we move into what is hopefully hotting up to be an Indian summer of sorts, we sent out our team of top craft beer purveyors to highlight some of their favourite venues to enjoy a cool crisp glass of an Indian Pale Ale from our portfolio. And they found a few other treats too.

Lion and Lobster, Brighton

Returning to one of our favourite Brighton venues following the installation of two new craft beer lines, the Lion and Lobster now offer their customers a choice of four craft beers including Fordham’s Gypsy Lager and Tontine Milk Stout, not forgetting they are currently one of the only venues to serve Dominion Grapefruit Pale Ale in the UK. But this is an article about drinking Indian Pale Ale during our Indian Summer and there are few places we’d rather be sat enjoying our Fordham Route 1 Session IPA than on the top deck of the Lobster’s two tier roof terrace.

Brighton Rocks

Tucked away off the Kemp Town seafront in Brighton sits on of the city’s best kept secrets. Brighton Rocks is a very cool, very hip cocktail bar with a first class food menu and a beer offering to send any avid craft beer drinker weak at the knees. Possibly our favourite hideaway after a day on the beach, you can catch the last of the evening’s warmth sat on their front terrace sipping on pint of Fordham’s Route 1 IPA. And if your'e lucky you'll catch Josh making a Peanut Butter Martini!

Hurley House Hotel

Something a little different from us this month as we head to Hurley House Hotel, just outside the town of Henley-on-Thames situated in the beautiful countryside at the heart of Berkshire. The hotel is a luxurious retreat, highly recommended for weekends away from the day to day grind or for those looking for an excellent wedding venue. Within the hotel stands the hotel pub, open plan and spacious yet provides an air of warm welcoming from the well presented bar to the friendly staff, the comfortable furniture and wood burning stove, but as much as we love the bar, we head outside to the landscaped garden terrace to enjoy our bottle of Saugatuck Backyard IPA.

Red's True BBQ, Sheffield

If you follow our 'Where To Drink' series you’ll be well aware that we are big fans of BBQ joints around the country, there’s nothing we enjoy more than experimenting with food pairings of BBQ treats and craft beers from our product range. It’s also well known that we are regulars at Red’s True Barbecue restaurants up and down the country and with the recent opening of their “house party of barbecue worship” in Sheffield, it was time for us to check it out. As with all Red’s True, you’re greeted by the salivation inducing smells of low and slow barbecued meat the moment you walk in, then by one of their superb members of staff before being seated to browse the menu of craft beer and barbecue.

Today’s choices are simple, we’re here to try the new addition to the menu, the Pitmaster Tray of ribs, brisket, pulled pork and sausages to be washed down with a bottle or two of Backyard IPA. Both are available at all Red’s True Barbecue venues so make sure you find your local and head their way.

Real Burger Kitchen, Chichester

An honourable mention goes to our friends down at the Real Burger Kitchen in Chichester. Along with being one of the finest purveyors of burgers on the south coast, they had the foresight to realise that Tailgate Grapefruit IPA was set to go down a storm and as a result of their savvy ordering, remain one of only a handful of venues still to have any in stock. By the time this is published though we imagine they would have sold out but, fear not, more is on it’s way and is expected back on our shores within the coming weeks. If you’re in the area head down to the Real Burger Kitchen to find out for yourself if they have any Tailgate Grapefruit IPA in stock, and whilst you’re there indulge in one of their jaw dropping burgers.

The Royal Mile Tavern, Edinburgh

A rare jaunt to the north see’s us cross the border and head for the vibrant city of Edinburgh, safe in the knowledge that we’ll find many a pub to suit our desires along the Royal Mile, especially knowing that the Royal Mile Tavern itself stocks a variety of beers from Saugatuck and Fordham. It’s a long road through the Old Town of the city of Edinburgh (well approximately a mile if the name has anything to go by) so we settle for a session IPA, this time being Fordham’s Route 1 IPA safe in the surrounds of this traditional British pub, enjoying some good old fashioned pub grub.

Cheers
