August 6th is widely celebrated as National Root Beer Float Day across America with children and adults sharing in the joys of this classic American drink.
Dominion Root Beer
Dominion root beer is produced on the same premises in Delaware as the Fordham and Dominion American craft beer we import. Authentic recipes have been tried, tested and perfected to produce this genuine American root beer, tantalising the taste buds with a full bodied, aromatic taste. Dominion's genuine American Root Beer is free from high fructose syrup and caffeine.
Root Beer Float
Also known as a “Black Cow”, the root beer float said to have been created in August 1983 when Frank Wisner, owner of the Cripple Creek Cow Mountain Gold Mining Company, was staring at Cow Mountain where the moon shone upon the snow capped mountain presenting the image of ice cream cascading down. This inspired him to experiment with a new drink for his bar, adding vanilla ice cream to root beer which became an instant hit with the people of Cripple Creek. And so the “Black Cow Mountain” drink was born, soon to be known simply as a Black Cow.
Fancy something a little harder?
Want to experience the joy of an ice cream float with a little less innocence? How about adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream to your stout? This works wonderfully with Dominion Oak Barrel Stout, Tontine Milk Stout and Tailgate Peanut Butter Milk Stout. If you don’t have ice cream to hand then grab yourself and chilled bottle of Saugatuck Neapolitan Milk Stout and experience the flavours of chocolate, strawberry and vanilla all in one glorious drink.
Enjoy your floats this weekend!
