The Fordham Brewery first brewed Spiced Harvest Ale in 2010 and only brewed 100 barrels. By 2012 they had upped production and brewed 200 barrels, but sold out within 3 weeks. So in 2013 production doubled to 400 barrels... which were all pre-sold before they left the brewery! Every year it gets more and more popular as the ever growing number of craft beer lovers in the UK are enjoying some of the more interesting beers coming out of America.
Fordham Spiced Harvest won a silver medal in the Pumpkin Beer category at the 2014 Great American Beer Festival!.
Fordham Spiced Harvest Ale is a pumpkin ale. which is very popular in America during the fall season. It's an easy to drink, warming, spicy ale that doesn't want rushing. Not because of the 6.5% ABV but because it's not your run of the mill ale. A smooth, caramel, malty sweetness, boosted by a few fresh homegrown pumpkins and then honey added into the boil, is balanced against the pumpkin pie spice flavours - clove, cinnamon, all-spice and real ginger. What sets this pumpkin ale apart from the rest is the natural pumpkin flavour - well, they are real pumkins! You'll find no artificial flavouring used here, this is the real deal.
Food Pairing
Fordham Spiced Harvest Ale goes perfectly with a hearty roast of turkey or duck with stuffing and root veg. A strong cheddar or gouda cheese matches nicely too.
