Where to Drink in September
Merry Christmas ya filthy animals! (5 points to anyone who gets the reference) No, but seriously, Summer is over and we’ve got a few months to wait until it is the cultural norm for the entire nation to start drinking heavily again. So here are a few places to tide you over until then where you can have a couple quiet pints!
The Pond, Brighton

I know I shouldn’t really have favourites, but I just can’t help myself when it comes to The Pond! Located just down the road from Brighton Station, it’s wonderfully accessible… but that’s not why I go there. The food is unreal! The kitchen is run by Baby Bao who make the most amazing Taiwanese street food, little tapas-style plates, and their hand-made steam buns… I’ve just eaten and reckon I get at least 2 more of these in me; there’s always space for food this good!
The Pond is grand in stature but cozy in feel, meaning whether it's a quiet drink out with a loved one, or the whole gang are painting the town red The Pond has something for every occasion!
We haven’t even started talking about beer yet! There’s always an amazing range on offer at The Pond, so you’ll find something to pair perfectly with your food. Their range is heavily rotational so there is always a good reason to swing by and try something new. Most recently, they’ve got Tailgate’s Peanut Butter Milk Stout on draught so make sure you get down there and grab a pint… it's not often you can get pints of Peanut Butter Milk Stout so experience this whilst you can!
Kill the Cat, Shoreditch

It’s a Tuesday, you’re three pints deep into Sixpoint’s Jammer, you’ve got that big meeting in the morning, but the beer is just too good to leave behind! You need a bottleshop with a range of amazing craft beer that you can drink in AND take home… enter Kill the Cat.
Located within the hustle and bustle of Brick Lane, Kill the Cat have 150+ of the world’s finest and freshest beers to satisfy any and every taste, as well a shop packed with cat puns. Recently, they’ve started stocking the 3 new Sixpoint beers to make their way across the pond (Jammer, Alpenflo & Righteous Ale) as well as Tailgate’s Peanut Butter Milk Stout. If somehow you’re able to restrain yourself from drinking it all immediately you can take your beers home in one of their ‘Meowlers’.
The Antelope, Surbiton

We’ve all got an idea of what a ‘proper pub’ looks like and I think The Antelope would fit every one of our descriptions. Passionate about quality beer, delicious home-cooked food, and friendly service - now doesn’t that sound like the perfect pub! Just a couple minutes from Surbiton station its the perfectly located They’ve got a perfectly formed seasonal menu consisting of fresh, locally sourced ingredients and one of the best Sunday roasts you’ll find south of the Thames.
Beer wise they’ve got a growing and ever-changing range, most recently taking on kegs of Tailgate’s Peanut Butter Milk Stout, and Sixpoint’s Jammer (these 2 seem to be in every venue this month… everyone loves em!).
Real Ale, Maida Vale and Twickenham

Real Ale is another awesome bottle shop in 2 locations, one in Twickenham and one in Maida Vale. First opening their doors in 2005, they were ahead of the craft beer boom and were focused on championing locally brewed high-quality beer. Since then there have been thousands of new breweries popping up so Real Ale have tasked themselves with the tough job of tasting and selecting the very best beers to stock!
Through the masses of tastings deciding what should be stocked, they agreed upon some Sixpoint brews and have recently started stocking Jammer, Righteous Ale and Alpenlfo.
