With a wealth of experience and expertise behind them, Phil Burley & Jamie Baxter first met in October 2013 to discuss the exciting opportunities of building a craft distillery in Leicestershire. By early November the gin-making journey was full steam ahead, the perfect building on Bawdon Lodge Farm in the village of Nanpantan was discovered.
Adjacent to the distillery is Burleighs wood, a natural woodland reserve of outstanding beauty. Whilst walking through the woodland, Master Distiller, Jamie came across Silver Birch, Dandelion, Burdock, Elderberries and Iris. Enthused by his findings, these botanicals went on to inspire Burleighs unique gin recipe and it seemed only fitting that this ancient Leicestershire woodland would lend its name to their gin.
