The sun is starting to shine, St Patricks day is around the corner and Easter weekend landing at the end of the month. March definitely signals the beginning of Spring and with it, the search for beer gardens to while away the afternoons. Here are some of our recommendations for where to grab a great drink this month.
The Hinds Head, Bray
Nestled at the heart of Bray, a quaint village close to Maidenhead, The Hinds Head is a pub steeped in history. Relaxing in the calm surrounds of this 15th century pub it's easy to escape the troubles of the world and be taken back to simpler times. The food menu boasts traditional British cuisine; pub landlord Heston Blumenthal has introduced historic dishes from Tudor times including Oxtail and Kidney Pudding and Heston's award winning Quail Scotch Egg. The bar is stocked with a vast range of British beers and ciders including our very own Cameron's Tontine Milk Stout.
The 7Bone Burger Co, Bournemouth/Southampton
The philosophy behind the 7Bone Burger Company is a simple one; top quality American comfort food and excellent service, delivered in a laid back environment. Matt and Rich, founders of 7Bone, are passionate about American food and work hard to uphold their philosophy in both their Bournemouth and Southampton venues, ensuring that every customer enjoys their experience at 7Bone. Their motto of 'turn up chow down leave happy', perfectly describes the customer journey at their New York style diner in Bournemouth, great American food enjoyed alongside beautifully crafted American beer, a match made on the east coast of the U.S, delivered perfectly on the south coast of the UK.
The Lion & Lobster,Brighton
'Epic' seems the best way to describe The Lion and Lobster in Brighton. Spread over three floors, the building houses a ground floor gastro pub, formal restaurant on the first floor and a two storey rooftop decked terrace. This venue caters for people from all walks of life and now stocking draught Fordham Route 1 Session IPA and Copperhead Ale, the craft beer lovers can also enjoy the pub. If you're in Brighton we highly recommend paying the Lion and Lobster a visit, but be warned, it is busy every day and night!
Flaming Cow, Eton
Claiming to serve "the best burger in Windsor and Eton" is one thing, being able to back up this claim with a string of great reviews as well as being ranked as the number 1 place to eat in Eton by TripAdvisor customers is something else entirely. Fans of fast food should head to this American style diner, located on the Windsor bridge looking out to the castle, to enjoy Windsor & Eton's best burger and wash it down with a Dominion Cherry Soda.
Dave's Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Eastbourne
There's something quite delightful about unearthing a real gem, especially when you least expect it, and delighted we are to have found Old Dave's Gourmet Burger Company in Eastbourne. The stripped back burger bar revels in the quality of their service and product without relying on fancy gimmicks. Dave raves about his chocolate brownies, the staff boast about the bar and the regulars insist the 'slaw is to die for. One thing is for sure, they all agree that the burgers are the best in town. The already exciting craft beer menu has just been given some South American flare as our range of Mexican bottles have taken up residence in the fridges. If you're near Eastbourne you'd be a fool not to pay Dave a visit for a craft beer and burger…our top tip is The Spicy Avacado burger and a bottle of Cucapa Clasica.
